Mestizos movement quietens down

BOGOTA, Nueva Granada -

Following the death of reporter Tonio Peinado, it has been understood that the mestizos movement for greater rights and a more just Gran Colombia has gradually died down. The protests have accordingly died down and the counter-protests have summarily been resolved. The security order has become more stable.

The authorities have pledged to institute confidence-building measures such as hearing forums and greater police training to avoid any repeat of the protests as much as possible.

The mestizos community wept alongside the Peinado family. Peinado will join the likes of General Piar and Colonel Infante.

The mestizos militants have gone rogue, and their whereabouts are unknown.
