In Response to Popular Liberal Demands

Fellow Liberals! 

This is our moment to reform this country! We are at a crossroads which is most of all an opportunity. But it is also a risk of taking the wrong path. This worries me greatly. Recently, a big focus has been on disowning the church and this is undoubtedly the correct thing to do. But what shall we do with the land and the money that we are reclaiming and that is rightfully ours? Burn it up? This would be fatal.

Many within our ranks have demanded selling all the land and investing the profits. But this is not in favour of the people. Who are those that will buy the land? It is conservatives. It is the old and rich houses and they will further strengthen their position!

Instead this money needs to be used FOR OUR PEOPLE. 

The state needs to keep the land and make use of it. We should invest it into that which is the most precious: THE PEOPLE. 

We should use the land to build schools and universities. We should invest the money into education and therefore our people. Primary education needs to be compulsory and it needs to be free. Only like this we can free ourselvesfrom the chains of the past. Only then will our country thrive. 

With increased literacy and education I am convinced that Gran Colombia can rise to unprecedented glory and can become a centre of invention and progress not just in the Americas but in the World! This is the only future for a liberal and liberated Nation!
